CERN Games Club

Welcome to the official website of the CERN Games Club!

We are students, fellows and staff members from CERN and a bunch of external people from Geneva who enjoy coming together to play tabletop games. Every Sunday we meet in Restaurant 1 at CERN from 2pm to late to play games. Everyone is welcome—you don't need to be a member of the club to join in. There's also no need to let us know in advance (unless you need site access), just swing by at any time.

From time to time we do other activities (weekday gaming, movies, participating in regional events, etc.). To keep informed, please subscribe to our mailing list and join the conversation on Mattermost.

In addition to our main event on Sundays, there are group meetings during the week to play cards, board games, RPGs, Chess or Go in multiple locations. You can search for players for your specific gaming interests on Mattermost or the CERN Clubs Community on Discourse.

2022 Games club AGM (April 3rd 2022)

Dear Gamers,

This year's annual general meeting (AGM) will be on Sunday April 3rd at 17:00 in the B.40 cafeteria. The purpose of the meeting is to report on the status of the club, elect a new committee for 2022, and discuss the future of the club. The meeting is open to everyone, so I encourage you all to attend! In particular, I'd like to encourage you to attend if you've recently joined / are interested in joining the club. There will be an option to participate remotely.

If you would like to submit a motion to be discussed, please could you either reply directly to this message or send an email to games.club@cern.ch so that we can make sure it is added to the agenda. If you would like to run for a committee position then there is no need to let us know in advance.

Cheers, Steve (on behalf of the committee)

The Games Club is meeting again - in Building 40!

Good news! With CERN now in GREEN level, clubs can resume their on-site activities. R1 is still closed on weekends, so we will instead meet in the cafeteria of Building 40. It has a hot food/drinks service, so you'll be able to have lunch/dinner there if you so desire. See the map below for directions.

If you want to join and don't have access to CERN, please sign up in CERN Indico. Once your registration is confirmed, you will get an e-mail with a temporary access pass.

Everyone is welcome - you don't need to be a member of the club to join in. There's also no need to let us know in advance (unless you need site access), just swing by at any time.

Let us know if there are any specific games you would like to play (since we need to get them out of the locker whilst R1 is open). The Mattermost board games channel is a good place to do this.
